The Manitou Springs Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Basketball teams have continued to advance through their seasons. Both teams preformed extremely well at Districts and will continue their seasons at the Regional Tournament. Manitou will be hosting these regional tournaments.

At Districts, Manitou had a great victory over the St. Mary’s Pirates. This gained them a number three rank in boys 3A basketball. This allowed them to host the Regional tournament this weekend. The Manitou boys team will be playing Kent Denver in their first round of the tournament. The Kent Denver Sun devils have put to gather a 10-12 season. The Mustang boys will take the court at 6:30 PM on Friday night.

For Manitou Girls’ Basketball, they took a second place finish at the District tournament. The loss was against the St. Mary’s Pirates. This ended their well deserved, undefeated season. CHSAA now ranks the Mustangs at number three in the state for Girls 3A Varsity Basketball. The girls will host the Regional Tournament which will also take place this weekend. They will tip off against the Manual Thunderbolts (30), who have had a 9-14 season this year, this Friday at 5:00 PM.

If both Manitou Mustang teams win then they will advance to play on Saturday. For the Mustang boys, the possibility is either Coal Ridge(14) who has a 15-7 overall record, or the Buena Vista Demons(19), who are 13-10. The girls team has a possibility of playing Strasburg or Lamar. Strasburg(14) has had a 16-6 season. The Lamar Savages(19) have had a 14-8 season.

The games will be held on Friday and Saturday, March 4 and 5.
