Bruno Mars has made four studio albums, including his most recent album called “The Romantic.” This album was released on Feb. 27 and has already hit 26 million streams. The main topic in “The Romantic” is Bruno Mars’ love life. It explores how he feels about the other person.
This album definitely went along with his usual style of music, it was a really similar vibe to his other albums. Some people are saying this is the album of the year and others are saying that it’s a one time listen. It still lives up to the high energy pop music that Bruno Mars is known for.
There are nine tracks on this album with a total of 31 minutes of listening time. The songs in order are, “Risk it All,” “Cha Cha Cha,” “I Just Might,” “God Was Showing Off,” “Why You Wanna Fight?” “On My Soul,” “Something Serious,” “Nothing Left” and “Dance With Me.” I think this album definitely could have been longer, with some longer duration songs. It’s nice that the album wasn’t too long that it was unbearable, but there could have been a few more songs. The order of the songs were really fitting, there would be very upbeat songs and then move on to a slow strings song. Overall, I think the album should have been longer but it didn’t take away from the flow of it.
The lyrics in this album really go into depth with how Bruno Mars is feeling. One of the songs on the album called “Risk it All” is a good example of the depth of his feelings he’s describing. The song is talking about how much he would do and what he would prove for the person he loves. This is shown in the song when he says, “I would swim across the sea just to show you.” It seems like he’s determined to let this person know what he would do for them. Throughout the album, it’s a similar topic that is spread throughout the songs and determination is a common theme. While there’s still determination, there’s also his sincere love and his deep emotional connection to the person he’s talking about.
The beats and instrumentals on the album were very energetic and made you want to dance. It’s very similar to some of his other songs which was a problem for me. One or two of the songs that were playing sounded exactly the same as some of his previous songs, for example, “Versace on the Floor,” and “Just the Way You Are.” It seems like he has a style but he should have gone for more variety. Even though some songs were similar, the instrumentals on most of the other songs were giving off a 1970’s retro style which I really liked. Some of the beats are super playful and catchy while others are a little more relaxed. The upbeat ones are what sounded familiar to his other songs but they were still enjoyable to listen to. I think that he did a good job with the instrumentals on his songs, I wasn’t bored or impatient.
This album feels like Mars is really expressing his feelings more than ever. It is very intimate and it can be relatable and comforting for some people. It really does a good job at presenting what it feels like to be in love. I think it’s a good feeling when you can relate to the music you listen to, which is why this album is one of my favorites. It feels like he is really digging his feelings to the surface like he really wants that person to know. This is the kind of vibe the album gives off which I really enjoy. If you are new to his music, I think this album would be a good start because it introduces you to his style. Overall, I would say this is definitely a favorite, there are a few flaws but I enjoyed it.
