The Manitou Springs girls soccer team will now prepare for the first round of playoffs after they split the final two games of the regular season.
In the 3-0 win over St. Mary’s Academy, Manitou used sharp defense to shut out the lady Wildcats.
The Mustangs then followed that game with a 3-1 loss to Conifer in the final regular season game of the year.
In that game Sophomore Kaity Vogel scored the only goal of the contest on a penalty kick.
With that loss, Manitou finished the regular season with a record of 10-4. That record earned the Mustangs the 10th seed in the playoffs.
Senior Ashley Benson said, ” We feel good about our chances in our bracket, however, it leads straight to the second ranked Peak to Peak team.”
Benson explained that Peak to Peak is one of the toughest teams in state and would be a huge challenge if they ended up facing them.
Manitou’s next game will be against the 23rd ranked Moffat County Bulldogs at Frontier Academy High School at 5:00 p.m., Friday evening.
