On May 10, the Manitou Springs high school band performed at their last concert of the 2015-2016 school year. It was an emotional night full of goodbyes to the seniors and awards given to the most determined musicians. Alena Akse (10), Mollie Anderson (9), Mason Aurand (11), Marc Ekker (11), Max Hexom (11), Agnes Navaratne (12), Briana Russell-Weddington (11), Luke Ganger (12), Anne Musekamp (12) and Kaitlyn Cashdollar all performed as top musical talents this year. As well as performing, these students earned the Tri Peaks Honor Band award, auditioned for the Colorado Springs All City Honor Band, participated in the Colorado State University Pueblo Festival of wind Honor Band and auditioned for the Colorado All State Band. Hexom was the only player that made the Colorado Springs All City Honor Band for playing trumpet in January.

The symphonic band received a rate of ‘Excellent’ from all 5 judges at the CHSAA State Large Group Music Festival. The band did a wonderful god at the concert and was brought to the attention that they play past expectations of Leve ever though a high school band could be. The hard work the band has done, really showed the night of the concert.
