High Hopes for Girls Swim

Lizzy Anderson, Writer

Hopes are high for this year’s girls swim team. Captains are Samantha White and Veronica Morin, the team’s first pair of junior captains. The goal for this year’s team is to win league for the third year in a row. There are no 3A swim teams competitions so the team competes at a 4A level. Individual girls on the team would like to place in the top three for their events. Kethrys Buffa, Emily Dolloff-Holt ,Veronica Morin and Samantha White have already achieved state qualifying times. Maggie White and Caitlin Siebel, who attends Woodland Park are very close to state qualifying times. The team is very proud of those who have state qualifying times and are honored to be competing at the 4a level. “It feels really awesome just because there is a lot of really fast people out there especially because we compete against 4A teams at state, to have a chance to be in the same pool as them and race agains them and see how you fair” said Samantha White (11). The new training is believed to have boosted success rate on the team. League is Thursday February 4 and Friday February 5. State is February 13 and 14 in Thornton, Colorado.
