MSHS Volleyball Earns Their Eighth Win of the Season

Maya Berns, Buisness Manager

On Tuesday, September 11, the Manitou Springs High School (MSHS) Volleyball team went head to head against the St. Mary’s Pirates. MSHS and St. Mary’s are rival schools and at every event that the two schools compete in, it is bound to be a high spirited and close game. The game on Tuesday did not disappoint.

The Varsity team won the first set, lost the second set, and finished off by winning the last two, winning the whole game 3-1. This win placed the MSHS Volleyball team at fourth place overall in the 3A schools in Colorado. Their season record so far is 8 and 1. Pushing past the game, the team’s energy on the court is perhaps the most admirable, and it is easy to see how close all the players are. The captains that led the team to success were Abbie Boren (12), McKayla Cully (12), Kylie Middleton (12) and Belle Brown (12). The family aspect of the team shows and contributes to the success of the team. “The team’s mentality is incredible. We are all very resilient and that’s definitely changed immensely from previous years,” Boren said.

Regardless of the girls’ winning streak, there is still room for improvement. “Working on consistency is always a big goal, and keeping energy a constant thing is also very important,” said Boren. The next home game is on Thursday, September 20, at 6:00 p.m.
