On Wednesday, May 3, the Manitou Springs Varsity Boys Baseball Team fell short to their rival St. Mary’s High School in a comeback that ended 3-5.

Starting the game in the first inning, the Mustangs slid into home twice, courtesy of Hunter Zentz (10) and Christian Mack (10). St. Mary’s didn’t score until the second inning, where they received one run. They then scored again twice in the fourth inning, whereas the Mustangs didn’t score again until the fifth inning.

In the fifth inning, Zentz got another run for the team, but St. Mary’s also got another run in the fifth inning. After the fifth, the score was 3-4. In the sixth inning, the Pirates came by with another run, while the Mustangs did not. This made the final score of 3-5.

Neither team scored in the 7th inning and the St. Mary’s Pirates won the game. Thankfully for the Mustangs, this was a non-conference game.

The Mustang’s next game is against Lamar High School.
