imageLamar travelled 3 hours to play the Mustangs. Coach Benjamin Mack told the team “give them the longest bus ride possible” and that is exactly what the team did.

The soccer team showed their senior pride beating Lamar with a 2-0 game on senior night this week.

It was a tough push for the team but they pulled through. Jonathan Gerdes (10) scored 1 goal from outside the 18 line as the crowd roared for the first goal of the game.

Gianni Truscelli (10) scored the second goal from a perfect pass assisted by Ted Weiss (11).

The perk of the game was seeing the team wear retro uniforms from 15 years ago.

The seniors were catalysts in the team winning, most notably Chad Forsett, Josh Elkington, Arin Ramos, and Connor Plackis.

The game was a memorable send off for the seniors who will be deeply missed for the seasons to come.

Although the team celebrated Monday night, the celebrations ended the next day after Manitou lost away at Jefferson 1-8.

The team fatigued after playing back to back games Thursday and Friday, and Monday to Tuesday.

The team went down 2-0 quickly, but junior captain Ted Weiss scored after a cross from a midfielder landed on the top of the box and Weiss took a touch and blasted it passed the Jefferson goalkeeper.

But the Jefferson attacking was too strong for the ousted Manitou and bombarded shot at Manitou keeper junior Toby White.

The game ended 1-8 and the Mustangs disappointedly went home with areas of the have to work on and improve .
