Emily Henry’s highly anticipated romance novel “Great Big Beautiful Life” was just released on April 22. Many readers are excited to read this romance novel because of her other hit romance novels that many readers love.
“Great Big Beautiful Life” follows Alice, an aspiring biographer, as she stays in Little Crescent, GA to convince Margaret Ives to let her write a biography about her. But Hayden Anderson, a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, wants the job too; so they compete to win Margaret over for the job. While they both stay on the little island, they form a friendship that blossoms into something more despite their competition for the job.
I loved this book. It was a bit different from what Emily Henry normally writes, which was really interesting. In this book, we follow two stories instead of one. While Alice interviews Margaret Ives, we get to follow the Ives family story and why Margaret disappeared. It was cool to follow two stories in the same book; Alice and Hayden’s story and Margaret’s. The more you learn about both characters, the more interesting the book gets. The different characters and their stories showed that everyone’s lives are interconnected.
The chemistry between Alice and Hayden was off the charts. They have many differences, but that’s why they get along so well. They are so cute together and even though they are very different, they both try to understand each other. Alice is like the sunshine to his darkness. However, I would have liked to learn more about Hayden and why he is so closed off and grumpy. As you read there are a few snippets where you learn about Hayden but I feel like there could have been more character development for him.
Lastly, The imagery in this book was really descriptive. I almost felt as if I was transported into Little Crescent, GA. The way Emily Henry describes the town and the shops there makes me feel like I’m there myself, and I can easily picture them in my head. The town feels so magical with the characters there and the shops.
Overall, this book was amazing. The story was so bittersweet and cute. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance novels and I rate it a 5/5!
