Manitou Springs High School should never have taken down the pictures and memorabilia of past years and students.
The pictures and memorabilia define the legacy of the school and removing it takes away from important parts of the school’s history. The pictures inspire the incoming students to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Like the first time that me and my friends came to tour the high school. When we first walked into the building and got to see all the pictures and memorabilia we all became inspired, and wanted to join the many years that had accomplished things and made an impact. We all wanted to make our own impact and be a part of the larger picture. Seeing all the pictures as we walked down the hallways even after we were students kept us going. It was like a symbol of keep going and you’ll be able to join the many generations that went through all of this and came out of it. The impressive legacy of this school is inspiring. Taking all of the spirit and legacy out of the school makes our building look sad and empty, lacking the important stories of all the people that came before us. The things that are important to this school are how old it is. All of the history that belongs here. How long we have been here and how long students have been coming here. Not many other schools can say this. We have been teaching students for 152 years, their stories and legacies are important.
Pictures and memorabilia define the legacy of the school and inspire the incoming students and without them the school misses important things and history.
Sincerely, Chloe Cuddihy
