A Roaring Prom Night
May 20, 2014
On May 3, 2014, at 8:30 pm, Juniors and Seniors gathered at the Mining Exchange for the 2014 prom, “Great Like Gatsby.” They danced the night away for 3 hours until the dance was over at 11:30 pm. The DJ, Matt Stoneback, ended the dance with a classic, Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey.
Ryan Carpenter and Merkin Karr took the crown and tiara for prom King and Queen. Merkin says, “My whole outlook on high school has been life is what you make it and prom was no different! I expected to have a good time and I did! I was honestly shocked that I got prom queen. It makes the night even more magical! It’s really fun for a night just to pretend to be royalty and at prom everyone is. You might get a crown or might not get a crown but that atmosphere makes you feel like a princess all dressed up and ready for the ball! Just awesome.”
The Juniors who planned prom, Diana Blake, Nik Lyles, Sam Weiss, Rebekah Shaw, Katelinn Root, Hunter Buck, and Misty Kerze, met Mondays to talk about decorations, invitations, budgeting, and etc. Having nothing very extraordinary, just basic and simple, it wasn’t too much of a stress.
The night ended with after prom; managed by the parents, which was held again at Trampoline world, formally known as Arts Sports. People jumped from 12 am to 3 am, letting out the last of their energy from the exciting night.
