Astronomy Club Hosts Night Under the Stars
December 2, 2016
On Thursday, December 1, Manitou Springs High School Astronomy Club had a night under the stars. In the late evening sky they were able to spot numerous galaxies, nebulas and stars. The club, which currently includes several students from all grades, is meeting monthly under the supervision of former teacher, Keith Barger.
Barger, who currently works at the Space Foundation, leads the group and shows them intriguing spots in space using high-powered Celestron telescopes. “It’s awesome. He really cares enough to come back and support us,” said Ali Washington (12) when interviewed.
Astronomy club was started as a way to engage students in the wonders of space. “At first, this club seems weird, but then it gets fun once it starts,” said Taylor Holladay (12).
The astronomy club is open for membership, and meets monthly. If you would like to join, email Keith Barger at [email protected].
