Second year wood shop teacher Brad Borkowski has taken over as head wrestling coach for Manitou.
Despite this being his first coaching job, he’s excited about his new position.
“It’s going good. I’m really liking it, and I’m learning a lot,” Borkowski said.
Borkowski arrived in Manitou last year after graduating college in Iowa. Following in his father’s footsteps, he became a shop teacher and now a head wrestling coach.
“I’ve always wanted to coach, but didn’t expect to be a head coach so fast,” he said.
Borkowski’s first outing as an official coach went well, as the Mustangs’ first match had only one loss.
“We came out looking good,” Coach Borkowski said. Although State is still months away, Borkowski commented on the potential qualifiers.
“Our two captains, Nate Titcomb and Ryan Carpenter, are looking really good, and there are some others who are improving, but it’s still too early in the season to tell.”
