The Manitou Springs baseball team started their season with a 4-0 record against three non-league opponents.
The Mustangs began the season with a 10-7 victory over Vista Ridge where senior Cameron Cox pitched the majority of the game.
Manitou’s second game of the season was a 6-5 victory over Woodland Park.
Senior Evan Riter lead the Mustangs to victory as he pitched a complete game.
On Tuesday. Manitou swept CSCS in a double header by the scores of 9-1 and 8-3.
Assistant coach Rob Quarry says the reasons for their early success is, ” Consistent hitting with very few strikeouts and strong overall pitching.”
Quarry added on saying, “Evan has really stood out with good pitching and Donato has done very well with reaching base.”
Manitou will play Bennett this Thursday in the first round of the Northern Colorado Tournament.
This tournament should prove to be a challenge for the Mustangs as it has some of the top teams in the state competing in it.
