On the special night of the renaming of Richardson Field to “George Rykovich Stadium” to honor CHSAA Hall of Fame Coach George Rykovich, the Mustangs came away with a win. They were led on offense by star running back Logan Moore and their offensive line. Layton Little, Kyan Bunker, and Preston Rhodes led the team defensively. They improved to 3-3 and 1-1 in league play; they will play at Lamar on Thursday, Oct. 17.

The volleyball team had a tough week playing rival Woodland Park on their senior night. Then with only one day of rest they had to play a Banning Lewis team that had a full week to prepare. The Mustangs are now 2-16 overall and 2-6 in league play. They look to pull off an upset against undefeated Lamar next week on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Manitou Springs Boys Soccer gets a convincing win on the road against James Irwin. The Steger brothers led them, Alexander getting five points on the night, and Sebastian boasting a shutout. Ezra Gervais also pitched in two goals himself. This win improves the Mustangs record to 8-2-2 as they look ahead to starting league play against Lamar on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Both boys and girls cross country teams did well at the Summit County Stinger Event. The boy’s team placed fourth overall with an average time of 20:14 and a total of 1:41:10. Yonas Hanson, Ethan Traenkle, and Evan Fugate placed in the top 20. The girl’s team placed second overall with an average time of 22:54 and a total of 1:54:28. Elisa Karr, Keyaira Moore, and Chloe Bresnahan placed in the top five.

On Friday, Oct. 11, the boys and girls cross country teams competed for the TPL championship. The boy’s team placed third overall with an average time of 17:52. Yonas Hanson, Ethan Traenkle, and Evan Fugate placed in the top 15. The girl’s team placed first and are the TPL Champions! They ran an average time of 20:01. Elisa Karr placed first, and Keyaira Moore and Chloe Bresnahan placed in the top five. The boys and girls team look forward to regionals on Oct. 24 at Monument Valley Park.
