Boys’ Basketball Beats Huskies
The boys varsity played a tight game Friday night against the Florence Huskies and came out of their second conference game with a win.
Manitou, 51-43, saw the lead contributions from Chase Megyeri (12) with 17 points, and James Finsterwald (12) with 11 points.
Megyeri may have had the high score, but he’s already moved on to Monday’s game against La Junta. “This game is behind me and I’m preparing for the next one.”
Friday’s game was their first conference win and an important one for playoff potential of the team. They lost the first conference game early in the season to CSCS.
“A second place lock up in our conference is very possible. As long as we can run coach Vecchio’s offense correctly, then teams will have a hard time beating us,” Megyeri said in a post-game interview.
Another key factor to Friday’s win was the tight defense by Mick Prather (12) who is known for his aggressive defense and his ability to shut down the opposing teams’ best players.
The shooting by James Finsterwald(12), with 3 three-pointers, and a two-pointer, also aided the team in their victory.
Other contributors were Nik Lyles (11) with 8, Danny McGee (11) with 6, Ryan Adamscheck (11) with 5, and Mick Prather(12) with 4.
