I sing in the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale, and last year before Covid we were supposed to have our big show at the Pikes Peak Center then go to Belgium to sing at the World Choir games. But before either of these things happened, we were all sent into lockdown and forced to cancel these events. We started to rehearse on Zoom, which of course was not nearly the same as singing together, and all of us were very disappointed that we couldn’t do these performances. We ended up putting together a virtual concert and sang our organization’s theme song “Dream a Dream”.  This song has been close to the organization’s heart since the start almost 45 years ago and was created to bring us all together. Part of the song says, “if we all dare to dream dreams, of a new and brighter day.” This, of course, was very relevant to the time as we were all going through lockdown, and looking back even the little things like this virtual concert helped me get through this all.
