Dear Editor,
Out of all the things at Manitou, if I could change one thing, I would change the track. The track could use a lot of help. We should change the track at our school for a few important reasons. First, the current track has bumps and uneven spots that can cause injuries to the runners. It’s not safe for our athletes to train and compete on a track that could hurt them. These uneven spots can lead to twisted ankles, falls, and other injuries that could keep athletes from participating in the sport they love.
Second, our track doesn’t meet the standards to host home track meets. This means our team has to travel to other schools for every competition. If we had a proper track, we could host meets here, allowing more people from our school to come visit. This would create a more engaged school environment. Hosting home meets would also give athletes the advantage of competing on a familiar ground.
Lastly, having a new track shows that we care about our students and their success. A good track can attract new students and make our school look overall better. It would help our track team perform better and bring spirit to our school. A new track would benefit our students for many reasons like providing a safer space for physical activity, and enhancing school spirit. It’s a long-term investment in the health, safety, and success of the students.
Sincerely,
Keyaira Moore
