Review: The Mason Jar
January 11, 2022
The Mason Jar, located on 2925 West Colorado Avenue, offers a great casual, family-friendly atmosphere that serves excellent food for a reasonable price.
The Mason Jar has been around since 1981 and has many customers who come in to eat regularly. When I first walked in, I was immediately greeted with big smiles. Both hostesses were very welcoming and social, and the staff was amicable. The place was filled with different generations, from toddlers to old folks.
At the table, I was approached by Ari, my server. He was incredibly friendly and had a lot to talk about. He was very knowledgeable and told me that the fried chicken was a must-have. He also told me about the Mason Jar Delight, an ice cream dessert with whipped cream and Oreos.
Once the food arrived, my mouth was watering by the delicious aroma of the fried chicken. The food came out very fast. The fried chicken was very crispy on the outside and juicy inside. It came alongside mashed potatoes, gravy and corn.
The fried chicken was probably the best-fried chicken I have ever had in Colorado. It was a friendly, casual place, and halfway through my meal, a manager came around and asked how it was. He was very polite throughout the time spent passing around various tables.
After finishing the main meal of fried chicken, the Mason Jar delight came out. It was espresso ice cream on a chocolate cookie crumb crust topped with chocolate syrup and whipped cream; the flavors of chocolate and coffee paired exceptionally well.
I was also pleased to see that they cleaned their bathrooms; the bathroom smelled clean and fresh, which seems to be uncommon these days.
Overall, I would rate my experience a five out of five, and everything was splendid. There are no clear negatives about the place that I could see, and I would recommend this place to anyone searching for an excellent homestyle meal with great staff and service.
