22nd Annual Emma Crawford Coffin Race Successful

The 22nd annual Emma Crawford Coffin Race and Parade was held on Saturday, October 29 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in downtown Manitou Springs. Thousands of people, pretty much everyone in town, joined the crowd. The parade began at 12:00 p.m. and was followed by 70 team coffins joining the race. The runway went down along Manitou Avenue, each team included one Emma to ride on a coffin-like contraption and four runners, who were called “mourners”, all dressed in costumes. Awards were given for “Best Emma” and “Most Creative Coffin” at the end of the day.
Because this is a long-standing tradition, people from all over Colorado came, dressed up and watched the race. There were over ten thousand people in downtown Manitou.
3per Reaper, MGA Pediatric Home Healthcare and the Haramboys took 1st, 2nd and 3rd place with times of 23:38, 24:01 and 24:34, respectively. “Best Emma” went to Ghouls Gulch. Steampunk Zombies won “Best Coffin”. ”
As the 22nd Annual Coffin Race came to an end, people started looking forward for next year’s race.
