Manitou basketball teams look forward to regionals

Both the Manitou boys and girls basketball teams head to regionals Friday.

At the district tournament, the Manitou boys finished second overall and the girls finished fourth overall.

The boys ended the tournament losing to CSCS in the championship game by a score of 62-36, while the girls ended losing to Lamar 64-41 in the 3rd and 4th place game.

The 14th ranked boys now travel to Holy Family to play the 19th ranked Estes Park Bobcats in the first round of the state playoffs on Friday, March 8th.

Coach Ken Vecchio said the key to winning the next game is to,” Stop the transition and take care of the ball.”

The 15th ranked girls also travel to Holy Family to play the 18th ranked Platte Valley Broncos in the first round of the state playoffs Friday.

Coach Dan Gieck says, “We need to come together and grow as a team before the next game if we want to advance”.

Both teams now must win their regional tournaments to advance to the state playoffs.
