Manitou survives Dolores Huerta, prepares for La Junta

After a 49-46 nail bitting win over Dolores Huerta in the first round of districts the Manitou Springs boys basketball team will now prepare for La Junta for the district semifinals.

This game will be a rematch of the first game of the season where the Mustangs fell to the Tigers by a score of 58-51.

Despite that previous loss Coach Ken Vecchio is confident in his team saying, “We are a better team than what we were in November. We execute better and have more balanced scoring.”

In the first meeting between the teams Manitou blew two double digit leads and gave up 12 offensive rebounds which led to the 5 point loss on November 29.

La Junta, who finished in a three way tie in the Tri-Peaks West division, is recently coming off a 7 point win over Florence on Wednesday night.

The game can be seen Friday night at Pueblo Central High School
