After a successful season, the Manitou Springs wrestling team is looking to finish off strong at regionals and state.

The Mustangs are sending a total of nine members to regionals which include Michael Payce, Ryan Carpenter, Jake Bartlett, Lucas Swanda, Billy Ryan, Oscar Archuleta, Aaron Brooks, Nate Titcomb and John Paradis.

Regionals include four sixteen man brackets where the top four in each bracket go to state.

First year head coach Brad Borkowski said, “We got pretty lucky with our seedings because we got four number three seeds and one number four seeds so we should have some people go to state.”

So the Mustangs have some high expectations for themselves heading into regionals.

Ryan Carpenter, who finished the season 30-6, kept this same mentality saying that his own expectation is, “To qualify for state”.

The Mustangs have been preparing for this moment for the past month and look to keep working hard.

With all of their hard work behind them, the Mustangs head up to regionals at Monte Vista High School on Feb. 14.
