IMG_4738The Manitou Springs boys basketball team beat conference foe TCA by a score of 50-38 on Tuesday night.

The Mustangs won despite struggling from behind the three point line throughout the game.

“Well, our bad shooting in the first half really hurt us,” head coach Ken Vecchio said.

The bad shooting caused Manitou to trail the Titans at halftime by two points.

However, the Mustangs found other scoring options in the second half which helped them turn that deficit into a comfortable lead.

“We picked up our defense and rebounding in the second half which led to a lot of easy buckets for us,” Senior Chad Sienknecht said.

The high point men for the Mustangs were Chad Sienknecht with 21 and Junior Tyler Washington with 9.

The game was a big win as it now puts Manitou into the number two spot in the league behind CSCS.

“This was a big game for us in the sense that it helped us with seeding in districts,” Ken Vecchio said.

The Mustangs now get a well deserved week off before playing Buena Vista again on Jan. 29 at 7:00 p.m.
