The Manitou Springs boys basketball team lost to conference opponent CSCS on January 8 by a score of 52-38.
The Mustangs kept the game close in the first half thanks to great half court defense.
The second half, however, was a completely different story. In the third quarter alone, Manitou’s offense struggled, scoring only two points while surrendering nineteen to the Lions.
“The third quarter is what really hurt us. We played well the rest of the game.” Co-Captain Kc Quarry said.
The Mustangs managed to cut the lead down to 10 in the fourth quarter but didn’t get any closer than that, eventually losing the game by 14. Chad Sienchnecht led Manitou, scoring 17 points.
The Mustangs quickly rebounded from the tough loss, beating Florence 67-49 on January 10. Junior Chase Megyeri led the scoring with 16 points.
On January 15 Manitou will face off against Fountain Valley.
