Watch here, O silent observer, as the businessman
stumbles and limps, a walking havoc, a reeling corpse,
all of his thoughts jumbled and lost among the muddled
gaps between each of his successive appointments. O Society!
the lineage of Plato and Hegel, burned, shattered, beaten,
a bruised heap of battered lies, stepped on by shiny shoes,
a conflagration fed by the unlimited ambivalence of Industry.
Watch here, O silent observer, and harken the smell, the sight,
the thick miasma of suits and smiles and ties, of Humanity’s decay.
