Volleyball to Continue Competing in Regional Competition

On Friday and Saturday, October 30-31, the varsity volleyball team went head-to-head with some of the best teams in the state for a tournament. The team left school at 11:00 a.m. on Friday and stayed at Cheyenne Mountain High School until 7:00 p.m.

On Friday, the team played schools Windsor (lost three out of five sets) and Grandview, former 5A champions (won three out of five sets).

The first game against Windsor was close and kept everybody on the edge of their seats, but not as much as the next game was.

Some would say that the Mustangs were the underdogs in the game against Grandview, the once-5A state champs for volleyball. The last game went on for over two hours and was very intense.

Manitou lost the first set 16-25. The next two sets went a lot better for the team when they won 25-17 and 25-20. The second to last set was also very close loss with a score of 21-25. However, nothing was as close as the last set with a score of 15-14.

The girls will continue to go to regionals this Friday, November 6, which will determine whether or not the team goes to state next week.
